Bodh Gaya is a Buddhist pilgrimage site that is considered to be the most sacred place for all Buddhists. Even though the predominant religion in India is Hindu, Buddhists from all the over the world gather at Bodh Gaya, worshiping the place were Gautam Buddha attained Enlightenment.
Gautam Buddha was known as Prince Gautama Siddharta, after he rested under a bodhi tree and gained Enlightenment. It is known that 250 years later, Ashoka visited Bodh Gaya as well, him being known as the founder of Mahabodhi temple.
With so much history behind, how can Bodh Gaya not be considered one of the most sacred places in the world?
